Yesterday, I was riding around in the truck listening to Brooks and Dunn’s “Red Dirt Road“. In the song, they talk about remembering all of the “1st’s” that happened on that road.
Things like:
While listening, I got to thinking. Everyone seems to remember their “1st’s” with a ton of nostalgia. I know I do. Heck, I still laugh at the first time I had sex… thinking “That’s it?!? This is what all the fuss is about?”
LOL.
So why don’t we look forward to more “1st’s”?
Why is it we get stuck in ruts and aren’t willing to try new things, new approaches, etc… when we know that we’ll likely look back on them and wish we could be there again at some point our lives?
Because you know you will.
All firsts are scary.
I wonder if that’s why they’re remembered with fondness.
Do what you’ve got to do to get where you want to be… ESPECIALLY if it involves 1st’s.
Always remember: “What if” is so much worse than “what is”
“I’m glad I tried” much better than “I wish I had”
Give that some thought.
